How it began

Art insurance. In a bottle.

SKINGRAPHICA® began with a simple question that had no good answer.

In the chair of one of the world’s finest artists, a collector asked what they should use to care for their new piece. The artist hesitated, and the hesitation said everything. Tattooing had become a fine art, producing original works as valuable as anything in a gallery. The care had not kept pace. Collectors were still being told to reach for nappy cream and basic lotion.

The art had moved on. The care was stuck in the past.

The search

No one had built it. So we did.

Nobody in the room had a better answer, so we went looking for one. We put the same question to dermatologists, cosmetic chemists and some of the most respected artists working today. Every conversation ended in the same place. Tattooed skin is different skin, and no one had ever made care for it.

A tattoo is pigment held deep in the skin by the body’s own cells. It is not a surface to be moisturised. It is a living work that changes with every season, every year in the sun and every year of age. Caring for it properly meant starting again, from the skin up.

SKINGRAPHICA® was founded in Sydney in 2025 by Mat Baxter and Mikael Rämgård. We gave ourselves one rule. Nothing would reach a client until it was right for the art, not just for the skin around it.

That rule shaped everything that followed. Ink-Safe™ formulations that work above the ink, never against it. Stage-targeted biochemistry in place of one product asked to do every job. Made in Australia, under one of the harshest suns on earth, and judged where it matters, on tattooed skin.
